Wadi Tiwi

WADI TIWI, Nov. 22, 2022

After having admired sunrise on the beach in front of Wadi Shab entrance,

we leave early, I think around 9, towards Wadi Tiwi. The road is sealed, but very narrow. At the first bumps I start to curse, at the first hairpin bends I go crazy, at the first “woad”, a 1 cm stream, I begin to whine, when the car starts to skating like “Holiday on Ice” style. We are flanked by a huge pick up, a local offers to be our guide, for 20 OMR, up to the village of Biman. We look at each other and don’t think twice: that’s the solution to all our problems!!

I willingly leave the front seat to my friend. She is much more outgoing than me, she likes to interact and she starts an animated conversation with the driver, while I look at the landscape behind us. We stop at many lookouts to take photos.

The warm morning light begins to shine across the valley, rich in greenery and palm groves, while the mountains are very barren. After passing the village of Biman, we leave the car and with a short walk we reach a series of panoramic lookouts. On our way back to the vehicle we walk on a completely different path, among palm trees.

We are doubly happy, this guy drives as fast as Hamilton, and we saved a lot of time with him, not only for the drive, but also because it would certainly have taken us much longer to find the exact way to get to the viewpoints and the waterfall. I try to get into the pool, but the water is actually cold and the area is still entirely in the shade.
