KYAUKME JULY 24

Transport

Day trip from Hsipaw. Shabby bus, as usual, at 10.00, but there is also another ride at 7.00 (1000 MMK). The return is around 16.00, but it’s always better to ask the driver a confirmation.

Sleep

Some foreigners met in Nyanungshwe told me that there are now 3 guesthouses which welcome foreigners, but I have seen only one. Not having slept there, I cannot give any information.

Eat

There are no real restaurants, according to a Western concept of the term.
I noticed a bar, clean enough, which serves only sweet things, and then many tea houses. I found one which offered soups or rice but it was pretty dirty, I think it’s called Paan Cherry, a noodle soup costs 500 MMK.

In general

I have not seen other foreigners in the city. Maybe they were all hiking in the hills. The people are quite friendly

The market offers interesting photographic opportunities

The temples perched on the hills at the four cardinal points in my judgment are not unmissable, especially in the rain

Hi you responded to a response I made re Sri Lanka. That’s how I discovered your blog which is interesting and informative. I am the senior solo traveller. I came to your blog to see what you have to say about India but it is not included in this. Is there another way of accessing your trip there? Thanks Rose
