Gaborone

Gaborone – 7/20/2016

Transport

After a smooth and punctual flight with Ethiopian Airways, I landed in the new Gaborone airport. We crossed on foot a deserted airstrip, and reached the entrance. At immigration control, despite I was coming from a yellow fever risk area (Ethiopia), no one asked me the certificate, which in any case diligently I brought with me.

90 BWP taxi from the airport to my guesthouse, in city centre. 40 BWP from the guesthouse to the bus terminal.

170 BWP Bus Monnakgotla the company from Gaborone to Maun. rather frequent stops. Departure at 6.00, arrived in Maun around 16.00

Sleep

The very efficient Angelo (I thought it was a mature man, and instead he will reveal to be little more than a teenage), sent a taxi driver waiting for me (90 BWP) at the airport, the only drawback is that, contrary to what I had been told, he was not showing a sign with my name, and then we struggled a moment to find each other, although there was no crowd at the arrivals. The Brackendene Lodge is located 2 steps away from the central pedestrian street where there are the Cresta Hotel, which is much more expensive, some supermarkets, shops, and various food stalls and souvenirs. My room is located in the guesthouse, situated in front of the Central Lodge. Friendly staff. Simple, clean accommodation, double room with bathroom, kitchen available

Eat
39 BWP at Spar supermarket. I bought a pasta dish at the deli counter, plus biscuits and fruit. I warmed the pasta in the guesthouse kitchen (very well equipped).
